Meghan Markle has certainly been in the spotlight since the announcement of her wedding with Prince Harry but even more so in recent weeks leading up to the big day. Many have asked, how does she manage to accomplish that incredible cover girl glow. In this post today, as a beauty therapist, I’m going to go through my recommendation on how you too can achieve that Royal glow!

1. Regular Facials:

Here at Luminescence we recommend monthly facials for 6 to 12 months prior to the big day. This way we have plenty of time to heal and rejuvenate the skin, as well as work on any concerns or problem areas that you may have.  In treating the skin over a longer period of time, we can take a more gentle approach and lower the risk of any reactions or complications.  It also allows for a good skincare routine to be developed and adhered to, giving even better results!

2. A Course of LED:

Light Therapy is one of our favourite facial treatments here at Luminescence Beauty Therapies!  The powerful coloured lights work wonders on pigmented, dry, damaged, dehydrated, problematic skins and without any down time or side effects!  This treatment is so safe and comfortable most clients fall asleep during their session! (for more details on the benefits of see our earlier post LED Facial treatments).

3. Massage your Face at Home:

Massage is not only a good way to work your products into the skin, but it also helps to de-stress your mind and body, as well as assist in draining the lymphatic system to reduce puffiness and promote blood circulation.  Make sure you are always moving your hands in an upwards and outwards motion from the centre of your face, and not dragging the skin down.  You can massage the face, neck and décolletage during any step of your skin care routine, however it tends to work best with mask, oils, heavier serums and night creams.

4. Internal Health:

It is important to keep a balanced diet in the lead up to your wedding day to avoid any annoying breakouts or problematic areas. Gut health plays a huge part when it comes to your skin health!  Too much sugar causes glycation within the skin, which is when a protein molecule binds to a sugar molecule and becomes rigid.  This decreases the amount of collagen and elastin formed in the skin, resulting in lax, dull and wrinkly skin! Alcohol can also dehydrate the skin, so best to avoid this at least a day or two before the wedding day.

5. Cleanse, Cleanse, Cleanse!:

Cleansing is a super important step, and the first step in your morning and evening skincare routine.  Cleansing not only removes surface debris and unblocks pores, but it also allows for better penetration of serums, oils and treatment products.  Without cleansing, your skin will feel rough, look dry and your serums and moisturisers will not work as well.

6. Cool, Calm and Sooth the Day of the Wedding:

A great idea on your wedding day is to pop a cool mask onto the face prior to having your makeup applied. You can pop a sheet or gel mask in the fridge to make them even more effective too!  This will help to de-puff the face as well as plump and hydrate, creating the perfect flawless base for your makeup to sit on.

Are you getting married soon?  Worried about your skin?  Starting to think about your skin routine before the big day?  Contact our Balwyn Beauty Salon and we can tailor a skincare program just for you!  In the meantime, enjoy watching Meghan Markle and Prince Harry get hitched on Saturday!
